Reverse pull brake levers on these moustache bars?

I really like the specs of these Van Dessel moustache bars for my fixed, in that they are a bit narrower and a lot cheaper than the nittos while not sacrificing aluminum for steel with the nashbar model. However, the inner diameter on the handles appears to be larger than the nittos or nashbars, and I can only find reverse action brake levers that fit a maximun I.D. of 21mm. The grip diameter on the Van Dessels is 22.2mm. Would some sort of basic shim be a solution? Can a shim be used? Though I rarely use it, I obviously want my one brake to be solidly secured.

The bars are 22.2mm and the brake clamp is 21mm and you want to know if a shim will solve the problem?

Maybe the expander bolt will spread the clamps wide enough to grip the inner bar end. If not, I guess you can always use a beer can shim.......I don't see why it wouldn't work.

Now I get it. You're talking about the brake levers that mount like barcons, right? I'd try a shim. It should work.

Actually, I'd buy the Nitto bars. Those Van Dessels look all wrong to me because they have no drop. Maybe it's just because I'm used to the way my Nittos look.

Essentially that's my question. Because the "stem" insert is so short on the breaks, I just wast't sure if a shim would make for a really solid fit. I had these in mind:

Thanks

Thanks for your thoughts on this. I'll take the drop, or lack thereof, into consideration.
