Try a citrus cleaner and degreaser. I bought mine from the Home Depot in a gallon size. Just took the Sram off and put into a 14 ounce water bottle (the kind you buy from a liquor store on a hot day). Fill the bottle and shake it around a few times. Wash your bike and when you are all done put the chain on last. You might want to spray the chain down with some water just to remove some of the loose particles still on the rollers. Apply lube AFTER you have installed the chain. This worked better than my Park Tools chain scrubber, and much cleaner. Peace.

WD-40 is one of the poorest chain cleaners/lubricants money can buy.

Try a Countrytime Lemonade container next time you need a shaker.
