Well,
I found a place with Suntour cassettes, now I have a question about the tools. Will a freehub lockring tool unlock any lockring? or do I have to get one specifically for my brand of cassette? |
Fubar,
I don't know how I missed this post, and I guess it is moot in light of your recent loss. But for future reference, there are several different lockring tools. You have to get the one that fits yours. Park makes a model for each type of lockring. Regards, Raymond |
The place your're gettin the stuff from can probably get you the right tool(s).
you either have to use chain whips, (early models) or the Shimano tool (late models, if memory serves). If you need whips, GREASE the hell out of the threads on the outer cog and the threads on the cog it attatches to or you'll NEVER get it apart |
Here's a good hint for getting freewheels loose when they are really on tight:
Place the freewheel tool in a vise and then put the wheel/freewheel assembly onto the freewheel tool. Use the leverage of the whole wheel to turn the freewheel off. This sure beats trying to use a wrench to loosen up a tight freewheel. |
