bike parts

not sure what forum to post this to,
I am looking for information about making bike parts ie stems seatposts and other simple items to start
mostly for my self at this time but may branch into somthing more at a later date, not sure where to find information

More important, do you have strength and fatigue testing equipment? Failure of these parts is painful at best and fatal at worst. If you stick to making things for your own use, it's only your hide at risk but if you start making things for others you better know exactly what you are doing.

Sorry to sound so discouraging but the world has seen more than it's share of small independent component makers with access to CNC machines but a very unfavorable ratio of "good" ideas to metallurgical skill. They spend a lot of time in court defending liability suits.

I gotta second that. I've fabricated many an item for my bikes, backpacks and skateboards. I know I do good work and that my stuff stands up to some pretty severe punishment. However, there is no way I'm going to ask someone else to trust what I have built. Even without the risk of a lawsuit, I would feel like a total piece of crap if something I made failed and injured someone.

Maybe try getting the mods to give you access to the "industry related private forum" here. There might be people in there who have started up their own business manufacturing parts.

thankyou not a machine yet but i have access to machines at the time. yes but now that you mention all that we do live in a lawsuit happy time, even the big manufacters of parts cant get away from it, but it does give me a place to start
