Slight problem

I purchased a 05 Campy Ultra HD 10spd chain, not the new skinny one, and after a few weeks I realized I was missing a critical part. When I got the chain there was an "insertion pin" and an extra pin that appeared to be like the others already in the chain. After setting them aside to be sure I didn't loose them... I promptly lost them. I'm thinking they got thrown in the trash with the bag I got from the bikeshop. Is there any way I can fix this? Was there anything super special about the two pieces I lost? I have been granted access to a Campy HD chain breaker tool, if I get a spare pin will this be all I need to get this damned chain on my bike? :).

I'm thinking I should have stayed with the ol' chain now. Any help would be greatly appreciated... and if you need clarification, I'll be more than happy to help decypher my words.

Those were special breakaway pins for joining Shimano chains. Your LBS will most likely stock some extras.

Might want to try one of these. I personally have switched from Campy chains to Wippermann. The work just as well. It appears, from reading an article on campyonly.com that a Wippermann Connex link may also work on you (wider) Campy 10 speed chain. See if any of your LBS have either the Superlink III or a 10 speed Campy connex and give them a try. No tools needed!!

Why don't you just use a connex 10 speed link on it? And you don't need the 'special campy tool' for installing regular pins anyway.

Thats a really good idea... I'd hate to de-campyfy the new chain, but it makes sense. I may just do that.
