paint jobs

Im looking to spruce up my commuter bike with a new professional paint job to replace the sad looking DIY one.

What different types of paint have people tried. Traditional enamel, powder coat, any other techniques to look for ?

Im looking for a paint shop in the UK. I know Bob Jackson is good, but does anyone know of a good paintshop in the SE of England?

I've just had my 531c audax/tourer/winterbike re enamelled by Bob Jackson. Plain black. The finish is great, as are the new braze ons they fitted.
As to others, my wife's new Roberts has a stupendous pearl finish paintjob, green to the front and blue at the rear.

I think Roberts don't do the paint themselves so it might be worth finding out who they use.

M Steel cycles (Dave Yates MTB's and Joe Waugh roadies) repair/frame building/paint shop is superb. I had a chainstay replaced followed by a bead blast and multi layer bakes on paint job with new decals and laquer for about 150 (pearlescent and fades are more) and the job was flawless .

If you like beautiful shiny paint jobs, don`t go for powdercoating!

If you like a hard and though layer on the bike, go for powdercoating!

cheers
