Problems setting up an e.13 bash guard/3 piece cranks. Help!
So I'm having a bit of trouble setting up my new e.13 bashguard. I am running Azonic 454 cranks, which are tubular 3-piece BMX style things.
In the bottom of the bashguard, there is an indentation for the crank arm to pass over...unfortunately, the indentation is shallow and wide to accomodate the more common flat aluminum crank arms you see on most mountain bikes...because the 454 arm is tubular, it does not fit into the channel on the bash guard--when I tighten the screw that bolts the guard to the crank arm, the bottom of the guard presses against the crank arm, which slightly bends it out of shape, and causes the guard/chain wheel to wobble when spun.
Has anyone had experience running 3 piece cranks like this with an e.13? Do I have to grind a deeper channel for the crank arm, or can I just put a spacer in between the arm and the guard, and then use an extra long crank bolt to connect the two back onto the BB spindle. I need to get this thing up and running so I can bash the hell out of it for all the trouble it's caused me...

How is the chainring spider attached? Is it through the splines or with a bolt through the crank arm? Either way you could probably space it over with out any problem.

I think you are better off grinding the gaurd to fit.
I mean come on, its meant to be ground =D
Spacing out the crank arm can be a pain in teh ass. On my BMX I had to, and It took forever to find the right combo of washers so that the chainwheel spun without a wobble.

Sorry i didnt read this earlier man!
I had the same issue with profile cranks a few years ago when E-13 guides came out. You will have to grind the cut out deeper. It wont hurt it at all.
The other tips I can give you that will help you greatly are in your easiest gear the chain should rub on the guide. If you have the bottom pully lined up with the chain ring perfectly this will happen anyways.
