How do I mount this bike rack?

I just go this https://www.nashbar.com/profile.cfm?c...eid=&pagename= bike rack. Looks great, only problem is I can't figure out how to mount it and it came with no instructions.

Can anyone give me a hand?
I gather that I'm supposed to put two of the little poles in the rack and screw them onto either side of the bike's frame, right above where the back axle is suspended. But is that it? I would guess that I need to support it somewhere else - two points doesn't seem very stable - but I can't figure out where.

I also can't figure out which way is front and which way is back. Is the hinge on the spring supposed to be towards the front or back?

Also, there are four little posts to mount it, but the holes only seem to take two. What are the extra two for?

Last, once it's on, how do I get my tail blinkie on?

I really appreciate anyone's help... last time I buy a rack w/o instructions...

In the photo above, the poles at the bottom should mount into the frame down by the rear axle, and the poles sticking out the right side should mount to your frame tubes up above your rear brake. Some peoples' frames have built-in threaded holes for those upper poles. If your frame doesn't have them, then you'll want to use vinyl-coated "P-clamps" to fasten those poles to the frame. Your rack probably came with some.

The blinkie bolts to the flat plate that's hanging down towards the tire in back. If you do put it there, check it often to keep it clean, because the tire's going to throw water and dirt at it.

Well, the link shows an INSTANT CHAT so you might be able to ask but...

Your bike would need braze-on eyelets or bolt holes down by the axles as you noted. The two other arms with the bolt holes should be oriented toward the SEAT and, again, some bikes have braze-ons in that general location otherwise you will need to find an adapter (I know REI sells those although I don't recall their name) which can add a place to attach the rack. Those other arms are what provides the second point(s) of attachment and keep the darn thing from rotating either forward or backward. It CANNOT be used without a second attachment point.

Ah, here's an REI link to the adapters:

https://www.rei.com/product/47651642....HP_CYCLING_TOC

I would guess that those adapters could also provide a point down by the axle, too.

By the way, just fyi, those types of racks canNOT be used with carbon frames.

The front of the rack mounts to the eyelets below the seat on the stays. The bottom holes mount into the threads near the axle. You asked about how to mount your blinkie******************************??

There is a bracket on the rack, i can see it in the picture. If you can't figure this out, you need to take it to a local bike shop and ask them to help you. ON the scale of 1-10 in terms of difficulty. This job is about a 1.
