which bb is which?

A few weeks ago I purchased two phil wood bottom brackets. One is for a campy record crank (iso) and the other is for a sugino set (jis). Problem is that I've forgotten which is which. One tapers nearly all the way to the bb body, the other has 'shoulders' about 1/2 way from the spindle tip to the body. Any help would be greatly appreciated by my wife, who would rather not have my bike stuff all over the living room; and my be, who would rather not ruin a new crankset.

I think the ISO is the slightly bigger one.

Hopefully, there's enough info here to distinguish the two:

Note thread direction and diameters.

phil bb's operate independantly of threading. You buy a bottom bracket with a specific length and taper and then use it with whichever mounting rings fit your bottom bracket. My question is specifically relating to the taper of the spindle. There are slight differences and I'm trying to figure out by sight which is which.

I run Sugino cranks and am looking at a spindle from a recent BB overhaul. There is an even taper for about 15 mm that ends in a abruptly sloped 3mm long shoulder.

I think I've got it. I gently put the crank on both bb's. It went about 3 mm further onto one of them. That one is the ISO (same taper, but smaller initial diameter.) That means the other is JIS.

I think you are right if I follow what you are saying...
But the easy way to tell is the JIS has a longer 'tapered' section on it, therefore extending further into the crank. Good luck-
