Replacing my fork...

First time poster... I have an '85 cannondale road bike, I'm not sure of the model number, but what I do know is that the front fork is bent, and anyone who's familiar 80's CD's know that my aluminum fork is done for. My question is this, how can I find the right fork for this bike when all the info I have on the bike is in the serial? If anyone can help, or at least point me in the right direction, I'd appreciate it!

Remove the fork and take it to a shop that's been around for at least 20 years (The longer the better and an old time Cannondale dealer is best). Most likely they'll have a replacement fork that'll work just fine. Good luck!

Thanks, anyone have an idea as to the price of a retro fork?

New, I'd guess $40 or up. Wild guess. Used, maybe $25. But this may not account for a standard lbs markup. Yeah, maybe those are both a little low. Oh, I don't know, I'm useless to help, sorry.

Cannondales from that era had steel forks not aluminum.

so you don't have to be picky and find just a cannondale dealer. just go to one you trust.

Check your frame. If the bike was crashed hard enough to bend the fork, theres a high probability of frame damage.

if it is indeed a steel fork old bike shops have a "steel block form" that you could lay the fork in and bend/hammer it back into shape. bascially you want to restore the original RAKE of the fork!
