Broken tire liner
I'm at school right now and when I rode in today I flatted. I found it happened because the tire liner broke. It's one of the old, thin rubber liners. What's an easy way to fix this before I have to get back on it?

Go to your LBS and buy a roll of Velox rim tape the appropriate width for your wheel. It will cost about $5. Using duct tape or other substitute will leave an adhesive residue on the wheel - and may squeeze out causing the tube to stick to the rim. It may also make it difficult to keep the tire properly seated on the rim as the width will be too erratic - unless you trim it very carefully to the correct width. Overlapping the tape can also cause a lump inside the wheel, creating an annoying thump when you ride. Velox tape is similar in texture to athletic tape - which comes in a variety of widths. If it were only a temporary repair and the Velox wasn't available, that might work for a short interim. The athletic tape adhesive can be removed from the rim with rubbing alchohol.

I agree to get the Velox tape if you can but using some strong tape to hold the 2wo ends of the rubber as a temporary measure should work. As mentioned make sure it is seated properly to cover the spoke ends.

I'm going to try to procure some tape. I'm at school and the nearest LBS is 10 miles away. Don't want to ride with exposed spokes that far.
