Headset Adjusment
I am having problems adjusting my newly installed headset ( 1 1/8 RitcheyLogic - Rigid Surly fork). If I tighten down the cap the steerer becomes difficult to move. If I back it off, the steerer jumps around.
Any ideas?

Make sure you've got the bearing in the correct orientation (not flipped) and that you haven't swapped the bottom and top units.

Had this problem happen once with a brand new bike. Cane Creek headset. No amount of adjustment by me or the LBS worked. Eventually had to replace the headset under warranty. Never did find out exactly what was wrong with the original.
