Official Painting a Bike with Auto-Air Paints Thread
Sorry if this seems redundant, but I've been researching on painting a bike and I'm overwhelmed by the various opinions on various methods. Can we use this thread to cover Auto-Air paints as a cheaper yet durable solution to painting bikes?
I am restoring a Schwinn Cruiser and would like to paint it (frame, fenders, chainguard) with a pearl or metal flake blue. Can anyone (who's done it) outline the process from stipping the original paint, to primer and sanding, to paint, to clear coating? Thanks. |
Search the forum for my recent diatribes about frame painting and refininshing.
Here's another shot of some Auto-Air Colors I used on an old Powerlite aluminum BMX frame. It was ultimately finished with about 4 coats of PPG DCU 2042 clear. TOXIC! wear proper breathing aparatice when spraying!! Enjoy! Dr.D |
