bent fork?
I have a gt timberline. I just noticed that most of the paint on the steer tube directly between the top tube and the down tube is completely scratched off. Does this mean the frame could be bent? seems like an unusual place for a bend, but im just checking
If so, does anyone know how the frame warranty for GT works?

If it is bent the tube will be out of round. Use a pair of calipers to check that the diameter front to back is the same as from side to side. Has the paint been rubbed off by the brake or shifter cable housings. You can only think about warranty if you are the original owner.
