Chris King Headset Question???

Hey guys,
I just got a 2006 Cannondale Six13 this week and was wondering can I swap the integrated FSA carbon headset that came on the bike for a Chris King 1 1/8 NoThreadSet? I don't know much about headsets so I didn't know if one would work in place of the other or not. Also, I have been reading on the Chris King website about the damage an integrated headset can do to a frame, and I intend to ride this frame for quite a while so I might as well swap the headset out now. Thanks for any help!

the only problem is that king doesn't make a headset for frames with integrated headsets. if you're just wanting to change headsets, i'd go with the campy.

No, you can't convert one to the other. The headtubes are very different.

Well, Chris King does make a new headset for integrated, it is called the Perdido, but I was wanting to use the NoThreadSet if I could. I like the look of actually seeing the headset.

I corrected someone else on this earlier. It is not an Integrated headset, will not work with an IS frame, can't be retrofitted either. It is an Internal headset, Chris King makes this point painfully clear in his diatribe on why IS headsets suck. The Perdido can be retrofitted to a Zero Stack (ZS) prepared frame, or manufacturers can use CK's specs to build frame headtubes to his designs.

I don't think you can use a Campy headset either. The specs for the bearing seats are different between the Cane Creek and Campy integrated headsets and I think FSA uses the Cane Creek standard.

i have a ck on a bike, and yep it's as smooth as silk, but i have a cane creek on another bike and it's just fine.

Dude. Listen to these peeps. Chris King does NOT make headsets for your type frame. The FSA integrated headset you have cannot be replaced with a Chris King. If for some reason, you want to throw away a perfectly good headset for an expensive overrated headset that will do the same thing, at least get an "integrated" headset that is going to work with your frame. Don't believe the Chris King hype.
