Will white spirits/mineral spirits harm clear coat?

I've got a little Frame Saver residue on the outside of my new frame. Would cleaning it up with white spirits/mineral spirits harm the clear coat? If so, does anyone have any suggestions of what to clean it up with?

No. At the shop, we would dip whole frames in mineral spirits, just for good measure.

I don't know if it will work on what you're dealing with, but I use furniture oil like Pledge to clean my frame to clean off grease smudges. I believe that it contains mineral spirits or distillates, and it hasn't harmed the finish o.fn my white bike. WD-40 works too. It won't work on water soluble gunk like dried sports drink.

Treat your bike finish exactly as you would your car. Use a solvent to remove stubborn stains like tar spots, but then use a detergent and water to remove the solvent. You can also use any brand name car wax for shine and extra protection.

Thanks for all the replies. I hit the small small spots with a little WD-40 and it cleaned up quite nicely.
