Deus/Atlas X-Type as double?

I've read the instructions and raceface say its possible, but has anyone ever tried either of these external bearing cranks as a double chainring setup? Apparently, all that is necessary is a removal of the chainline spacers and inner chainring. . . in theory it should work. . . has anyone done it? and if so, could you give pictures? thanx. . .

It will work fine in with a double setup. I didn't use either of the spacers on the drive side in order to get the best chainline, though instructions called for both of them. This was not a problem as far as installing the crank was concerned. My chainline is pretty terrible in the small ring, but optimal in middle and big rings, so I expect my setup is probably what you'd shoot for with a double.
