converting a cassette?

Is het possible to "convert" a 9 sp. Shimano cassette to work with 9 sp. Campy shifters by replacing the Shimano spacers with campy spacers?

pokey 12-23-02 04:40 PM

There is not a spacer kit listed that does it.Problem being I think is that the shimano spacers are 2,56mm and campys are 2.8 mm and if you use all of them the cassette is too wide for the hub.Antother way to do it is use campy shifter and RD with the otherwise shimano drivetrain.Supposedly works OK.

Sounds good! thanks Pokey

Greenlion,

Wheels Manufacturing makes a kit that will fit shimano 9 speed
hubs (and cassettes) to work with campy 9 speed.
They are available at Branford Bike link here but they are fairly pricey. They also have shimano to
campy 10 speed.

THis has been brought up a few times so far in this forum, and the general advice is that you can use a Shimano 9sp cassette with Campy shifters no problem. And that is what Sheldon Brown says not me :)

Sheldon Brown and Peter Chisholm (Vecchio's in Boulder) have told me that a Shimano compatible rear wheel works fine with 9-speed Campy running gear. The only change they suggest, is to use a Shimano 9-speed chain.
