Cassette has too much play
I just received a built up wheel with a Powertap hub.
I tried to put my own (Ultegra 10-speed) cassette on it, but when I tighten down the lockring, there's still too much space between the last gear and the base of the hub, so the whole cassette doesn't tighten down.
This isn't a torque problem - even when torqued down appropriately, there's about .020" (about half a millimeter) too much space between the hub shoulder and the smallest gear.
What gives? Am I missing a shim? The hub just isn't compatible? Something else?

You need that ever so small spacer for a 10-speed cassette to fit an 8/9 freehub.

Now where to get it? Before I posted, I searched Nashbar for 'spacer' and couldn't find it. After you mentioned this, I searched both Nashbar and Performance for 'spacer' and 'shim' - no dice. Any recommendations?
Does the shim go between the hub and cassette (i.e., on the wheel side)? I could make one at work...

I believe the shim comes with 10-speed cassettes. Try an LBS to see if they have an extra one lying around from a cassette replacement job.
