creaking front wheel

My belovid Gios has developed a creaking sound from some of the spokes in the front wheel. I use it to commute to work 25km round trip daily. The front wheel is a Mavic Cosmic airo wheel with 16 blade spokes. It is running true. I have hit some large potholes with a bank a couple of times . Enouph to rotate the bars a bit from the force of me being in the hoods. The question is: is a 16 spoke like this a little to wimpy for a daily comuter and am I fatiguing the spokes? Also, how do I take the creaking out. By giving each spoke a little tighten?
