Fork Removal

Does anyone know how / and can explain how to remove a fork off a bike? I have a Giant Yukon with sr suntour fork and cane creek headset?

1. Take off the stem. I don't know if that bike has a threaded or threadless headset. If it's threadless, you need to take off the top cap with an allen key, and then remove the two allen bolts that hold the stem on. If it's threaded, you need to loosen the allen bolt running down into the stem, possibly whacking it with a hammer to free the stem.

2. If threadless, the fork will now fall out, along with all the headset bearings and spacers. If it's threaded, you now need to find a big wrench and unscrew the top nut and the threaded race, at which point the fork will fall out, along with all the headset bearings and spacers. In either case, you might get lucky and the headset has bearing retainers, in which case only 3 or 4 greasy parts will hit the ground, rather than 50+

If you don't want a floor full of bearings and spacers, it's advisable to read the headset service articles at parktool.com
