Campy Pre-2K veloce brake pads - advice needed

I'd like to replace the brake pads on my pre-2k veloce calipers. I've read that campy no longer makes the "HBP" style molded pads - fine with me, I never liked them. I saw several recommendations to use the latest generation shimano ultegra/dura ace holders+kool stop pads. Anyone have any success with that approach?

Kool-Stop makes Shimano-compatible pad holders and they are adjustable for angle, unlike the first generation Shimano holders. I bought two sets of these holders and each set came with two sets of Kool Stop pads (one salmon and one black/salmon). They are available from Harris Cyclery and from Bike Tools Etc. Very good upgrade, btw.

Would the pads fit on the older Monoplaner brakes also? I have a set and Campy NR/SR style inserts are getting scarce and expensive. I would just assume take off the old holders and replace with a set that is adjustable.

The Kool Stop pad holders bolt onto the caliper arms in place the current pad holders or brake shoes and then take Kool Stop or any Shimano compatible pads. BTW, Kool Stop also makes Campy pad compatible holders but there is no advantage to using them as Shimano-design pads are much more readily available.

Check Harris Cyclery or Bike Tools Etc sites for details and prices.

Tell me about it. I really love Campy but trying to find a shop locally that stocks even the smallest parts is next to impossible. Thanks for the info on Harris
