How do I get a bicycle mechanic license in NEW YORK?

I am very interested in getting a bicycle repair mechanic's license. I also live in new york city. I'm not really planning on getting a job in the field (maybe dunno). But I really want to get it just for an excuse for self improvement and to have the ability to repair my own bikes.
Can someone recommend a good school or course?
