Suspension maintenance

Just wanted to know what kind of maintenance does the front (spring or air) suspension requires:confused:

Go to the manufacturers site. You can download manuals with instructions on the maintenance of your fork. Hopefully, that is, unless it's an uncommon brand.

yeah that is great, but I wanted to hear some body with experience on his own. someone who knows the deal.

You didn't tell us what kind of fork or any other useful information, so you got nothing of use in return.

generally fork maintenance involves changing out the fork oil and checking for bushing play while the fork is apart. Also look for worn or damaged parts. Consult your manual for specifics regarding oil weight, type, and quantity. The manual will also tell you how to properly assemble the fork and if there are any special areas that need lubing (like the wipers in rockshox forks).

If you're like most of the customers I deal with, there is absolutely no maintenance required. Just ride it until it completely falls apart, then bring it in an ask for it to be covered under warranty.

Do I sound harsh, I apologize.

In reality, depending on the make and model can vary from as little as an occasional regreasing, to having to completely dissassemble the fork, replace all the oil and replace worn bushings.

Usually, I just replace the oil about twice a year. I don't ride as often as I wish which would warrant more frequent service!
