foldable tires

I got some foldable kevlar bead tires on sale and won't be using them (I hope!) for a while. Is it OK to leave them folded up, the way they came, or should I store them unfolded?

Thanks

Thanks,Ba-Dg-Er,I suspected that, but I don't have any experience with them.

Servus!

I understan the concept of having a foldable road tire - you can put it in a saddle bag, stuff it in a jersey pocket, whatever. But every "foldable" MTB tire I have ever seen folds down to roughly the size of a small dog. In my opinion a bit hard to store in an effective manner.

My philosophy: Save the money any buy the non-folding version and hang 'em in your closet- makes the wife happy every time! :D

Thanks for the input, Ranger. Even a road bike tire is a little bulky folded up, but on a long ride it's nice insurance. I can see where a MTB tire would be more of a load to carry!

Ranger -

I think the main reason for foldable tires is the weight savings w/ the kevlar bead over a steel bead. The fact that it is foldable is just a bonus.
