Chain repair

I have a SRAM PC-69 on my road bike. Last week I cleaned it really good, letting it soak a few days in some degreaser, then scrubbing it really good and letting it sit for a few more days to dry. I checked it over really good afterward and noticed a tiny hairline crack in one of the links. The crack starts where one of the pins are and radiates toward the top edge of the link. Don't have a pic of it, but I think you get the gist.

Well today while I was getting my tire retrued at the LBS, I was standing there next to the wrench talking with him when I noticed that the crack was now Huge. It's got to be at least 2mm to 3mm across. So it definitely needs to be fixed now.

What I'm wondering is. I have my old SRAM PC-99 chain that I saved. It had several (3 or 4) of those same hairline cracks so I replaced it with a PC-69. Can I take one of the good links from my old PC-99 and replace that bad link in the PC-99?

Or maybe I could use the powerlink from the PC-99 somehow.

meh i wouldnt bother. ware on a chain affects your cassette so you might end up damaging it and having to buy a new one (cassette) mixing up 2 chains like that

just get a new chain!

You could use a Power Link but I wouldn't worry about the crack you can see. It's the crack(s) that are still forming or that you've overlooked that are going to cause your chain to break when you least want it to. Get a new chain.
