Anyone have problems with FSA Cranks?
I was looking to swap my 53/39 Centaur crank for a compact. The FSA carbon compact versions looked nice and are priced right. After searching, it looks like there are some serious problems. Seems the non drive side crankarms keeps loosening up or falling off. I have to say that never happened to any of my Campy or Shimano square taper cranks. Anyone have first hand experience? Those old style Campy square taper cranks are looking real good now. Thanks

You will need a new bottom bracket for any compact crank except Campy's and may need one if the Campy compact requires a different length. If you are willing to change brands, look at the new Shimano compact. It has an external bearing bottom bracket similar to the FSA but with no reports of problems.

I have the SLK compact which came stock on my Specialized Roubaix. I did have the non drive side crank arm loosen but that was from the factory assembly and I probably should have checked it after a few hundred miles just like every other bolt on the bike. Since that time it hasn't come loose.

I have a Truvativ compact, and it too has some loosening on the non drive side (the bolt side). After needing to check it every 30-50 miles, I just got some leverage and cranked that sucker down. That shizzy gots to be tight. Real tight, yo.

Thats funny. I'm thinking of ditching my FSA Gossamer for a Centuar compact. The FSA is proving to be neither quiet nor durable. Still chugging along, but I'll chuck it before year's end.
