I have a STX RC 8 speed rear hub on my old wheelset, Im wondering if I can put an LX cassette, 12 to 34 9 speed on it? has anyone given it a try?

Thanks Pokey, its for my second wheelset, the new bike is 9SP the old was 8SP, so the cassette chain et al are pretty well brand new less than 200k. id say.
