Front Derailleurs Problem

Last night I was putting together my Bianchi that I won off Ebay and I stripped the screw that secures the Cable for the Front Derailleur. Can I just Tap it out or should I just look for a new derailleur?

Did you strip the screw or the part that it fits into in the derailer? If just the screw, you can simply replace it... if the derailer body itself, you can try a thread reforming tap.

Awesome that's what I was hoping for.

If the reforming tap dosen't work, try a Heli-Coil, they're the schniz. Aircraft rated too ;)

Wow that's pretty hardcore! I bet I would never have the same problem again though.

They are. I've used them to repair stripped cylinder headbolts and sparkplug holes. A bit pricey for the kit, but you get a drill bit, a tap, a bunch of inserts and the installing tool. Then all you have to buy is more inserts.

Good luck with the fix, however you need to do it.
