frustrated by improper seatpost clamp

i have an oldish kona hahanna frame that i've been hatching evil schemes with. being a chromo frame with skinny-ish tubes, i ordered a 28.6mm clamp. the thing is too small! next size up is a 30.0mm, at least according to the catalog. my eyeballs have guessed that this will fit, but i'm gunshy now, and afraid to pull the trigger. is there an intermediate size? the 28.6mm _almost_ fit the frame, but was just a hair or 2 too small. any suggestions?
