SRAM Compatibility

Hey guys
I'm looking to put a set of SRAM X-7 triggers on my Jetstream II USS.
I have the stock X-7 RD. Will the X-7 shifters work because the sram
site says that it is either 8 or 9 speed shifter. Does this mean that
it will be compatible with both?

Thanks
Mike

It's an either/or. When you order your shifters you have to indicate if you want 8-speed or 9-speed. They are different parts.

Yes, the X-7 rear derailleur is designed to work in both 8-speed and 9-speed setups. In this case, it sounds like you need to match your shifter with the cassette already on your bike (unless you are planning on swapping the cassette as well). As Retro Grouch noted, the shifters themselves come in either 8-speed or 9-speed configurations, and they are not interchangeable.
