Cleaning components
Hows the best way to clean the chain and components on a bike? My LBS told me to use degreaser and a tooth brush. Is this the best way?
Also, is it bad for a bike if you just hose it down after a ride that got it dirty? |
There's a little box in the upper right ide of the screen that has the words "Quick Search" in it. Type "chain clean" in it and all kinds of wonderful threads will be revealed like this one: http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread...ht=clean+chain I'm kinda sorry for the perciieved tone of the response, perhaps I'm just grumpy because I'm tired but c'mon use the tools the site gives.
Yes a brush and degreaser is the best way plus you can get a good hands on inspection done at the same time. |
haha, it's okay if you're grumpy. Thanks for your reply:)

I didn't realize this was such a well discussed topic! I'll do a search next time!;)

Yeah it seems like everytime a chain cleaning topic gets pushed off the first page of the Mechanics section another one gets posted. We go through a lot of dead horses around here....chain cleaning, the evils of SUV's (I'm to blame for a LOT of that), and the always popular (groan) age poll.
In short don't worry about it some other newbie will post a new one in the next couple weeks. |
