Help choosing fenders

I want to get fenders for my hybrid bike but i can't figure out the numbers and sizes i need. According to the markings on the tires, they are 700x38C, 40-622. Can you tell me which fenders i should get for such tires?

For that size tire, you'll need to make sure you get fenders that are for 700c wheels, in at least 45mm width, and there should be some available in 50mm width also. SKS makes both 45mm and 50mm wide 700c fenders, available at Harris Cyclery. I've had excellent luck with SKS fenders-

I've heard the SKS fenders are great. I've had good luck with the Zefal fenders myself: I got some 45 mm Zefals fenders for only $15 on sale a few months ago (from Nashbar).

As well biked says, you just need fenders in the 700C size, with width that is at least 5 mm larger than your tires to be safe. Also, make sure that your bike has eyelets on the dropouts and fork for fenders, and sufficient clearance between the tire and the frame to fit them. If your bike doesn't have eyelets, the more expensive Race Blade fenders can still be used, but I don't know of any other models that will work.

I live on Toronto and since i don't know where to buy SKS fenders i can get some from PlanetBike. Will those be ok for my bike? - http://www.planetbike.com/fenders.html , Freddy Fenders Hardcore 45mm (at the very top). I supposed i can bike to the shop and try them there to be sure they fit.

Yes, those should work. As you say, it would be a good idea to go to your shop and check the fit, both for frame/fork clearance, and also check to make sure they give good coverage over your tires, since tire sizes tend to vary-

MEC has a very generous return policy - don't abuse it. But don't hesistate to use it either, if you buy it and keep all the packaging nicely, try them on and don't fit - refund them or exchange them for something else.

Good luck! I like most of the Planet Bike products I have, one good light and several good saddles. One light that I got from them had a miserably short battery life, however :(
