Road Bike Style Handle Bars to Cruiser Style
My bike puts me in a bent over, more hunched forward position. I would like to be more in an upright/cruiser style position.
How do I go about doing that? This is what I have currently: STEM: NVO, patented InfiniteAdjust technology, 6061-T6 aluminum HEADSET: Dahon Fusion, Zero stack, cartridge, sealed, conical spacer http://i10.tinypic.com/2iqbj3k.jpg http://i10.tinypic.com/4gt7ehh.jpg |
basically, I can't lower the seat anymore,
can i just change out the stem to something that protrudes more upward, than forward? are these even available? and are they available in black? or do i have to change out the headset and stem altogether? should i add riser style handlebars too? http://www.mtbr.com/reviews/Handleba...lebar_7075.jpg |
A new stem with more rise (in degrees from horizontal) and less reach (in millimeters) along with a riser bar would work. Stems with lots of rise are readily available. What's more, they are MUCH easier to find in black than in silver, so that won't be a problem (well, not for you, it annoys the crap out of me), either.

Really? That is terrific. Are there more common brands? I would probably just order through my LBS, so was thinking of getting something easier for the LBS to order. Are there any good brands, or recommendations you have? I figure I might have to change out the thing the stem attaches to, not the handlebar, the other end. It seems to have a strange shape to it. It is round, but seems to have a point, if that makes any sense.

I figure i would have to change it to something else, no?
in order to fit the stem? http://i9.tinypic.com/2qjccid.jpg this thing says it is a comfort stem, and it is angled at 40 degrees, in 130mm, 110mm, and 90mm which would be best do you think? 130mm, 110mm, or 90mm? and are there bigger than 40 degree angles? like 45? 60? or would that not be necessary? http://i10.tinypic.com/48hp8j9.gif |
