Gear Changing Problem
I have a mountain bike with 21 gears. The front gears only go to number 2 and 3 i cannot shift down to number 1. Somebody told me i need the gears "tuning" and that it costs around £30. This is way too much to spend so.. could somebody please help me and tell me how to fix it myself?

I've had this problem on my bike a few times. On the derailleur you will see two screws. Try adjusting them a bit and see how it goes. And also try adjusting the angle of the derailleur. I find that its all about trial and error. After each adjustment go out and test it to see how it works and if needs be further adjust it. My friend works in Halfords and tuned my gears for free, I now know how to do it myself.
