Ti post/Ti frame: grease or no grease?

Didn't find anything via search, nor did I see anything on Sheldon Brown's site.

Do I grease a Ti post I'm using in a Ti frame, or no? I've never had this combo before.

Thank you.

I would say yes. Any time you have close tolerance metal to metal contact and you want to be able to move it, you should use grease.

May not be essential for this particular combination of materials but do it anyway. It can't hurt and, if nothing else, it will inhibit water from running down the inside of the seat tube if you get caught in the rain.

BTW, some Ti frames have an aluminum insert in the seat tube to sleeve the ID down to a common seatpost size. In these cases, grease is certainly indicated.

I had a friend who originally had an Al seatpost in his Ti frame, and it seized. He had to cut it and pipe wrench it out of there. Was told by a reputable dealer he should really go to Ti post, but they didn't mention grease. Lost touch with him after that - never heard of removal problems though. I'd agree with the other response - grease it. It can't hurt.
