New Suspension fork arrived with oil stains on box

I posted this thread in the Mountain Biking forum but I thought I'd post it here as well since it sort of qualifies as both.

I just received a brand new Rock Shox Tora through the mail and when I opened the package I noticed that the box around the crown and the area where the stanchions go into the bottom part of the fork is stained with oil. Is it normal for a fork to leak oil due to resting on its side or even being upside down as can occur during shipping? I called the vendor and they said it's normal for the fork to leak a little during shipping and that even a small amount of oil can stain a large area on the packaging. Does anyone else have experience with something like this? Is this fork damaged? I'm attaching a photo of the box as it arrived. Thanks!

one of the advantages of buying from a shop is that they will throw the box out before you see it and you need never worry.
