mountain bike cable routing

Can anyone point me to a pic of handle bar cable routing for mountain bike cables. I saw a few pics the other day, that I now can't seem to find. I'm installing deore shifters and brake levers on a new build so I have no old housings to use as a guide. Three pieces of cable came with the shifters. The two that are the same length I imagine go from the shifters to the frame, but they seem really long - looking at my road bikes is of course, no help.

The frame has on top of top tube routing, I'm not sure if I should route the shifter cables on the same side of the head tube as the shifter or cross over the head tube to run it on the opposite side.

I did post this in mountain bike section first, then I realized I should have posted here for all you gurus.

Most of these cable housings must be cut to length to fit your frame......but don't cut them too short... Can you post a good photo of your frame?

Thanks fixer, I figured I have to cut them, but its funny after doing the headset/shock, bb, and stuff, I seem lost with cable routing!! lol I have shimano cutters, but I also have a dremel with cutting wheel if thats better.

here's some pics:

I was thinking about this:
if sitting on bike seat looking at top tube -
the boss on the left is for the rear brake, the cable comes from the right brake around head tube - this will have to be a full length cable with ties in notches
the center boss is for the right (rear) shifter, the cable will come around head tube
the right boss is for the left (front) shifter, the cable will come around head tube

I then need to cut short pieces of cable for the bosses between top tube and seat tube/seat stay

from what I can see this would be like trek routing

thanks, if there's another/cleaner way let me know
