Busted Fork Help!

Busted Fork Help!
i have a 2002 rock shox duke sl fork, 100mm travel. i was out killing it on the trails today, when i notice it is REAL soft.
i stop, compress it a few times, and hear a noise like there is some water in it...a distinct wet squishy noise (no jokes please!).
usually all i hear is the air. also, the its still the same even when i crank the compression all the way up; seems that that changes nothing.
i know i busted it, but here are the questions:
1. was it a seal? if not, any ideas?
2. can a dealer service? or is it going to the factory? (i am hoping for a quick fix as the first race of the season is next weekend)
3. guess on cost to fix? (if anyone has had this problem...)

i'm just guessing as i don't know anything about the Duke in particular...
but it does sound like a busted seal - is there any oil leaking out? that would be a sure sign.
usually, the manufacturers make a replacement seal kit for each fork, so if your dealer can get it (which for a common fork like the Duke i would think so) then i would think the local bike shop should be able to do it. as far as i know, it is usually recommended to replace the other seals too since they are likely to have a lot of wear as well.
i would say getting it fixed by the weekend hinges on 1) the bike shop having the seals IN STOCK and 2) having shop time available as right now is when everybody and his brother brings his bike out of the garage for service so many shops have a wait of 2 weeks or more...
cost: no idea. i would guess ballpark $100 for parts+labour, but i have no idea!
the seals in my '98 SID busted last year and i had it in the shop and they had the right replacement seals in the shop, but the tubes were so pitted and thrashed we decided it wasn't worth replacing... (this fork had a LOT of miles)
maybe someelse knows specifically about the Duke...

Go to www.rockshox.com. They have parts catalogs and manuals in the Tech Support section. You could rebuild this yourself but if the shop has experience and the tools you may be better off letting them do it.
