Time ATAC Aliums - rebuild or replace?

I have a couple pairs of 4 or 5 year old Time ATAC Alium MTB pedals that I like but the bushings and bearings are getting quite sloppy. I know there are bushings and parts available but I don't know what all needs to be replaced and how difficult the task is.

Has anyone out there rebuilt these?

not exactly your issue, but i recently replaced the tension bars on an old set of mine. they cost like $5 and if you have the pedal diagram, it wasnt that hard to do (i personally let a friendly local mechanic do it, while i watched and thought 'yeah... i think i could do this')

The cartridge bearing is easy to replace, and costs around $6-12 per pedal. The bushing is the hard part, apparently requires a special tool to remove and replace, so would probably have to be done professionally. I am all for repairing and recycling things, and I *love* these pedals (have four pair of them myself), but the cost of doing these repairs would almost certainly run you more than buying a new pair. I bought new ones recently, and this is the best price I found ($45.95)--even cheaper than eBay by quite a bit, plus you get the nice new cleats too:

Incidentally, Speedgoat will do an instant pricematch on this item, I ended up buying from them because Jenson was out of stock, and I'm really happy with Speedgoat.

I say buy new

I just scored a pair of last gen Aliums for 15 bucks shipped on eBay (with cleats!)
