V-brake Compatible? and an eggbeater question.

I'm running Crossmax SL disc (2005) wheels on my bike with XT disc brakes but they appear to also be v-brake compatible. However the brakeing surface is different from other v-brake rims in that it is much narrower. They do, however, have the machined grooves which are on most other rims. Are these rims, in fact, rim brake compatible?

Also, are the eggbeater 2ti pedals (steel/titanium) much different in terms of durability from fully steel eggbeaters. I know they are somewhat lighter but they are also much more expensive.

The Mavic disc specific wheels have a "Disc brake specific profile: no braking surface." (from Mavic) So I would not use rim brakes on them, only discs.

In my experience, there shouldn't be a durability issue w/ the various eggbeaters. The $$ difference is what you get for Ti. The stainless is just as good, little bit heavier, but significantly less $$. The eggbeaters are a great choice in pedals.
