How do I swap Shimano STI shifters between two bikes?

I want to swap a pair of 10 spd Ultegra shifters on one bike with a pair of 10 spd 105 shifters on another bike. How do I go about doing this? Do I have to pull the cable through the housing and then have to reinsert it, or do the little ends of the cables that sit in the shifter slide out somehow?

You'll have to pull the cable and redo it on the new bike

If you want to leave the shifter cables with their original bikes you will first have to remove them from the shifters. Shift to the smallest cog and chainwheel. Detach the shifter cables from the deraillers, then push the cables out through the housings and the shifters. Then you can transfer the shifters between bikes. Reinsert the shifter cables but if they show any signs of unravelling replace with new ones.

If there is unravelling, since there is plenty of cable remaining, could I avoid having to purchase new cables if I just snip the end with the appropriate tool.
