how to remove stickers from frame
 

The previous owner of my gt zr3000 put a pink betty boop sticker on the back of the seat tube, and it has to be removed. What is the best way to take a sticker off without damaging the paint?

Scratch with your fingernails. If the paint comes off in this process, it was loose anyway.
To remove residue, spray on WD-40 and let it sit for 10-15 minutes.

Hot air gun. It really works.

Peel what you can off, then use "goo gone" for the residue. This stuff is awesome.

A hair dryer worked for me, followed by a quick wipe with Goo-Gone to remove the sticky residue.

My wife has something called an embossing tool that is hotter than a blow dryer, and which actually works really good for removing most decals. I think it is actually supposed to be used for drying glue and stuff when scrapbooking- but I wouldn't know anything about that.

+1 There are some things it doesn't work on, but sticker goo goes away really quick with it. Lighter Fluid works pretty well although no one keeps that stuff around anymore.

Don't listen to these guys, the answer is simple:

Add more betty boop stickers
Dress like betty boop
Change your name to betty boop



I might be lying though...

Have heard some of the NON abrasive bathroom cleaners in spray cans work to remove stickers. Never tried it maybe someone else can comment.

+1 on using gentle heat (a hairdryer is fine) before peeling it off. Follow with a solvent for final cleanup. My favorite solvent for removing adhesive residue is 3M General Purpose Adhesive Cleaner. It's very effective yet safe on cured paint. Works great on grease, tar and other assorted goo. I've had the same quart can for nearly 20 years now and it's still 1/3 full. Most auto body supply stores carry it for about ten bucks.

and will not harm paint

Hot air from hairdryer to loosen, lift up edge of decal with fingernail or you can scrub (gently) with a wooden tongue depressor or wood kitchen spoon under the hot air stream. This won't hurt the paint. Remove residue with Goo-gone or any mild oil-based solvent, then finish with mild detergent and water to remove the oil.

I wouldn't recommend anything higher temp than a normal consumer hairdryer for this.

Try Coca Cola "Classic" after you have scratched the surface of the sticker. Used it years ago to get those obnoxious army base stickers off the front and rear bumpers of my car. Didn't hurt the chrome and shouldn't hurt your paint. Was it off as quickly as possible.

goo gone

a stean gun cannot be beat for most stickers. Sticker comes off and all residue. Steam guns/wands are great for many things and not very pricey.
