wipperman connex - 2 types ?

I ordered a connex 10 from performancebike.com recently,
however it appears that there are 2 versions, one for wipperman chains and another for shimano chains.

Is this cast in stone or can the wipperman version work with a shimano chain ?

Are you sure they don't mean different widths? Wipperman chains for Campy 10-speed are 6.2 mm wide and their chains for Shimano 10-speed are 6.0 mm wide. They also make 9-speed chains which are wider than either.

HillRider is, as usual, correct. You can learn more about them (the links) here http://www.connexchain.com/. Click on "products" then "connectors."
