Crank replacement

I have a triple crankset on my hybrid (trek 7500) and need to replace the top two due to wear.

I never use the smallest one, so during my replacement of the top two, could i remove it (the smallest one?)

Thanks for the help!

Keep it on take it off, don't matter, just a matter of minimal weight and on a hybrid it doen't matter weightwise. If you do remove the small front chainring I would advise adjusting the limit screw so as to avoid shifting your chain onto a non-existent ring. Couple of other points; if your chainrings are worn then most assuredly so is your cassette and your chain. Gotta replace them as well. Order of wear: 1) chain, 2) cassette, 3) chaingrings.

If you do remove the small ring, you might also want to consider, at some point, using a slightly shorter bottom bracket to get a better chainline.
