Changing out the Handlebars?

Hi I have a Giant road bike with straight handlebars on it. I was wondering if i could change out the straight handlebars for Drops? Obviously i would have to get new gearing and brakes to fit the handlebars. But would all the be worth it? Or should i consider moving to a new bike with Drops already on it?

Thanks in Advance

It could get pricey, but it really depends on how much you like your current bike to decide if it is worth it. You will likely need new shifters and brake levers (or integrated STI levers). You may be able to use a cheap set of aero levers and some bar end shifters to save a little money.

It depends on what parts you need. How many speeds is your bike? For the sake of argument:

I would bet around $65 for some bar end shifters with cables (9 speed)
$40 or lower for some new aero levers.
Whatever you want to spend on some bars and another $10-$15 for some tape.

If you can do the work yourself, you could do it for a reasonable price. If you want to go with integrated brake/shift levers the price goes up a tad. If you are patient and can find used parts the price goes down.
