Tarmac Build Question

I just got a Tarmac E5 off of ebay for a steal. Looking to build it up with my 10sp 105 group from my Lemond. Are the front derailleur clamp sizes the same, does anyone know the sizes for each? Can i re-use brake and derailleur houses and cables? The only specialty tool i think i need to get would be a bb wrench, correct?

I'm coming from a bmx background, were putting together bikes involves the archaic act of knocking bb cups into frames with a block of wood and hammer (they've finally gone to more recent threaded tech thank god), so i think i'm gonna leave the adjustments of the derailleurs to my lbs, but figured i would get the build together and let them fine tune everything. any help or advice is appreciated. Thanks!

Dude, you got the tubes in front of you! Why are you asking us about the clamp sizes???

Check out Sheldon Brown's site (see sticky at the top of this forum).

i don't have the tarmac yet, waiting on it to be delivered.

im just trying to get my build all together and do all my homework before the frame arrives, this way i'm prepared if something unexpected comes up. I would have ordered a new derailleur if i knew for sure that they would be different. i'm impatient and want to build it up asap (im pretty sure i have mild ocd). i have to go down to the lbs to get a bb tool for the bontrager/truvativ setup anyway so if need be i guess i'll pick up everything whilst there

I would have guessed it would be a 'braze-on' Fd but this spec list
http://www.airfreetires.com/specs/St...cord&Year=2005
says that it is a 31.8 mm clamp. Good luck with the build up. You can probably re-use most of the cable housings but they are cheap if you need to replace any of them. I would go with new inner cables just because this is a really nice ride and it deserves to be done right (and cables are pretty inexpensive).

That's a great link and helpful site as well, Thanks! I originally thought it to be a braze-on as well due to the aero seat tube, but from all the pictures I was able to gather, it is a clamp-on. Unfortunately specialized doesn't give too much tech details on their site, nor do they have archived specs, at least not that I could find. I appreciate the help!

I see your from Germantown. My grandmother lives there. Great little community, love it every time i go to visit. Would you happen to know if the Memphis Belle has been moved back to mud island?

Specialized does have the specs on their website. To get to the archived stuff, you need to click on the dropdown for the 2007 bikes then select the archive from there. All the E5 road stuff I could see in a brief search is 31.8mm clamp-on, but you should check your year specifically.
