What is this front brake-related component called?

Apologies in advance for my ignorance, I'm not the most technical person around (as you may have gathered my the nature of my question).

I had a Trek 2007 T10 hybrid arrive today, with a 'Tektro V' brakeset. However, the metal of the component through which I run the front brake cable is warped and so the cable will not stay secured. I've no idea what this component is called, so I've included a picture.

Also, the component does not appear to be unscrewable. Is it possible to get a replacement just for this?

Thanks in advance.

Your dealer should've caught that! I suspect this didn't come from a dealer, at least one in good graces with Trek, who strictly prohibits internet selling....oh well, who needs a warranty anyway!:p

Just squeeze it/bend it back with a pair of pliers. The gap should be just wide enough for the cable to go through...

I got it from Evans Cycles, but from their online department rather than from inside one of their stores. It seemed reputable enough.

I would pop off with "The Noodle holder, on the caliper"

The cable goes thru that housing. Which in bike terms is called a "noodle"

Tectro is under the lower range LINEAR-PULL brake set. They do offer them in colors btw
a set will run $10.00 or a BMX with lever is $20.00 if you can't get a single one. Have the shipper credit you this for having to buy and run out and get one.

have to watch that "V-Brake" name that belongs to Shimano, and they may seek rights & royalties everytime you use there name...jk

Yes, I am. I don't know how rigourous their testing procedure is, but the brake cable came loose after squeezing the front brake a few times. Thanks for the advice with the pliers, that seems to have fixed the problem quite effectively.
