Chain kicks when force is applied

I recently purchased an Iron Horse Warrior last year, and have already subjected it through some rides it will literally, never forget. The chain however seems to kick up on to the gear above it on the crankset, and I am not sure where to start looking for a solution. It only happens when I am on the smaller cogs in the back. I realized because of the 9 speed cassette that the chain does come into the crankset at an angle that might influence the chain picking up on to the gear above it. I am considering 3 options:

- re-adjustment of the BB
- new crankset & chain
- other option

I am not sure what else could be the problem, but considering I am more than likely not alone I figured I would ask to see what others chose to do. Suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Exactly which chainring and gear are you using when this happens.
The smaller the CR & cogs, the less tension on the RDER spring. Run the chain at an angle and....I would imagine it would be worse when you hit a bump and had the RDER "bouncing" around.

Its only in 7-9. I figured out the problem; the cassette has grooves in it supposidly to help the chain shift, but it seems to be doing the opposite. Also it is an economy one, and the teeth on the higher gears are completely worn down. Now once I get some money...
