Look Road Pedal -- Rounded over & Unable to tighten

I have a pair of nice Look CX6 Carbon Road Pedals -- the right one is now rounded over in both the spindle (where you use the pedal wrench) and the 8mm / Alan Wrench area. Thus, it is nearly impossible to tighten it at all when installing. And, even if you were able to tighten it, you may not be able to remove it.

My LBS had it for several months and eventually told me that he can no longer get a replacement spindle for it. What options do I have? Any? I really hate to not be able to use these pedals ... even though they are my back-ups. I've switched to Keo's on all my bikes, but use these on the back of my tandem.

Any suggestions are appreciated.

Suggestion but I've not tried this myself: drill and tap the end of the spindle (the rounded hex) - shallow - and insert a similarly short high grade stainless hex head cap screw, red (I think that's the permanent color) loctited.
possible issue: make sure you have clearance from the back of the crank/pedal to your frame for the cap head depth.

I like Robo-Grips too, but I got to ask, are these pedals worth saving?
